"What’s happening right now is what’s supposed to be happening. You have something that’s organic. Everybody is anchored in that same position. We are not concerned about symbols of racism, we’re concerned about systems of racism… This is not necessarily about George Floyd, this is about the hundreds of thousands of other George Floyds that have been shot down by an American legal system. This is about the more than 70 million George Floyds who have criminal convictions in this country."

Episode 2 of the INTERVIEWS series from AWKWORD, featuring social justice leaders.

In part 1 of this episode: Louis L. Reed, National Organizer for Cut 50, discusses discriminatory policing, prosecution and sentencing; the movement for racial and economic justice; Cut 50's mission to cut the prison population by half; and how he got his start in organizing during his 14-year incarceration.
